This past month has been so busy getting Lady L ready for scho

I had done a small one several years ago with thick thick paint, a wide brush and lots of pink.  Her Mom said it was her daughter's energy and spirit so that is what I painted.  I was really hesitant when I sent the final piece and said, "Email me back fast if you do not like it, I will have to make pink horses!" She loved it. The painting left for northwest Texas l

Jane's is an apple blossom, pink and wholesome and sweet.'  'And our own is a white violet, with purple streaks in its heart,' finished Priscilla.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea I had the sweetest gift I could receive with the opportunity to paint this piece for a first year teacher and her new apartment.   I remember my first teaching position and it was first

This past week I ask her if she knew what a sponge was. She answered yes.  I asked her what happened if the sponge was really dry and hard and you set it in a puddle of water.

Lewis As children many of us learned to sing "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine... " We learn about light at an early age associating it as a child to being awake, fed and either working or having time to play. If you stop and think about the many sources of light in our world today, there are so many of them you cannot count them. What is light to man?  I came across this passage from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

You must travel it by yourself.  It is not far. It is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know.  Perhaps it is everywhere - on water and land.”  ― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass Here is the final overlay with medium and acrylic.  My original thoughts were a herd of buffalo on the low horizon and more sky...but the more I think about that the more I do not feel it it the right path to take for this painting. I spent time this morning going back through prior vertical pieces as th

Is it better to have a beginning or an end? Laurie Pace painting in Progress

This piece is being thought out with a bit of frustration. It is with a gallery in mind that has the mindset of telling the artist what they want or need for selling...which is truly NOT the way an artist works if they

One of those days I think about what began my journey in art and my journey in life.  I loved Rachel's quote about the grains of sand and the story of the earth. In the same line of thinking, my artwork has a story line of my own life on this earth as does my blog. There have been many influences over the years from history, living, relationships a
